The Scramble for Africa

The Scramble for Africa refers to the time when various European countries invaded, occupied, and colonized different parts of Africa. Many historians cite the Berlin Conference as the starting point for this time in history because it regulated European colonization and trade in Africa. It was also during this time that began to directly rule over their African colonies instead of ruling by hegemony (an indirect form of government).

The Scramble for Africa map includes a colorful labeled teacher’s map and an unlabeled student map that the child can label and color.
