The French Revolution was a ten year period (1789-1799) that marked great changes in France culturally and politically. The first year of the revolution involved many memorable events such as the assault on the Bastille and the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen. The struggle continued for the next few years until a republic was announced in September of 1792.
