By 1860, Italy was split into four states: the Austrians in Venetia, the Papal States, the Kingdom of Piedmont-Sardinia, and the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies. The process of unification involved the Third War of Independence in 1866 and the Franco-Prussian War in 1870.

The Italy United map includes a colorful labeled teacher’s map and an unlabeled student map that the child can label and color.

The Crimean War /map_center/the-crimean-war/ /map_center/the-crimean-war/#comments Mon, 13 Jan 2014 19:18:31 +0000 KQ Team /map_center/?p=699 MapCenter-CrimeanWar2med

The Crimean War lasted from October of 1853 to February of 1856. The war began as Russia fought against the Ottoman Empire in order to protect the rights of Orthodox Christians. Eventually, Russia lost to the alliance of the Ottoman Empire, France, Britain, and Sardinia. Fun fact: the Crimean War was one of the first wars to be extensively recorded through reports and photographs. The public, especially in Britain, was kept up to date on the day by day progression of the war.

The Crimean War map includes a colorful labeled teacher’s map and an unlabeled student map that the child can label and color.

The European Revolutions started in France and spread throughout Europe and even some parts of Latin America. A number of factors were involved, mainly to do with social and political unrest and discontentment. Even though the revolutions lasted less than a year, some results were the abolition of serfdom in Hungary and Austria as well as the end of absolute monarchy in Denmark.

In 1517, Martin Luther began the Protestant Reformation by nailing the 95 Theses to the Wittenberg church door. Pope Leo X excommunicated him, but later John Calvin joined the Reformation. Bibles were printed and distributed and parishioners were able to read the Bible for themselves for the first time.

The Reformation map includes a colorful labeled teacher’s map and an unlabeled student map that the child can label and color.
