The French Revolution was a ten year period (1789-1799) that marked great changes in France culturally and politically. The first year of the revolution involved many memorable events such as the assault on the Bastille and the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen. Fought throughout Europe from the year 1618 to 1648, the Thirty Years’ War started out as a religious war between Protestant and Catholic states but then turned into a more general, political war with most European countries being involved. It was a devastating war, contributing to the presence of famine and disease. The war was officially ended with two treaties, the Treaty of Osnabrück  and the Treaty of Münster.

As the Republic of Rome continued to expand in territory and might, the kingdom of Carthage began to get nervous.
