The end of the 1800s and the beginning of the 1900s was a significant time of immigration to the United States. Ellis Island in New York is the famous immigration center that processed the entry of millions of people into the United States. In fact, during the year 1907, 1,285,349 immigrants came to the United States from Europe.

The Major Centers of Immigration map includes a colorful labeled teacher’s map and an unlabeled student map that the child can label and color.

The Scramble for Africa /map_center/the-scramble-for-africa/ /map_center/the-scramble-for-africa/#comments Wed, 15 Jan 2014 19:52:59 +0000 KQ Team /map_center/?p=748 MapCenter-ScrambleAfrica2sm

The Scramble for Africa refers to the time when various European countries invaded, occupied, and colonized different parts of Africa. Many historians cite the Berlin Conference as the starting point for this time in history because it regulated European colonization and trade in Africa. It was also during this time that began to directly rule over their African colonies instead of ruling by hegemony (an indirect form of government).

The Scramble for Africa map includes a colorful labeled teacher’s map and an unlabeled student map that the child can label and color.

Composers /map_center/composers/ /map_center/composers/#comments Fri, 22 Nov 2013 17:33:23 +0000 KQ Team /map_center/?p=539 MapCenter-Composers-2sm

Many famous classical composers lived during the 1800s. Each one has a different story, but all are fascinating. Beethoven was mostly deaf when he composed some of his most famous pieces; Wagner experienced political exile and debt; Chopin, despite of his fame now, only performed about 30 times in his life; and Tchaikovsky was the first Russian composer to be made famous throughout the world.

The Composers map includes a colorful labeled teacher’s map and an unlabeled student map that the child can label and color.
