Homeschooling ABCs – Lesson E

August 29th, 2009

Well, what did you think?

If you have received your final free lesson – Lesson E – in our August Spectacular, you are free to post your comments here.  You should receive it by noon on Monday, August 31st.  However, we are adding a little twist this week…

If you would rather post on your own blog, or on your Twitter or Facebook status, that would be even better.  Tell your friends what you thought about your 5 week introduction to the Homeschooling ABCs class.  Is it what you hoped it would be?  Did you glean useful and valuable information for your homeschooling journey?

There are 22 more lessons in the series and some of the best are yet to come!  Would you like to sample one more?  Take a look at Lesson M here – www.homeschoolingabcs.com/guestdnldcenter2.htm.

If you would like to be entered into the drawing, please post your final comment before 8:30pm EST on September 1st.  The drawing will be held at 9:00pm EST.  At that time, we will post the 25 grand prize winners and the 10 runner up prize winners.

25 will win the rest of the course – all 27 lessons!

10 will win the next 2 lessons in the series – Lessons F and G

And the rest of you will get to purchase the rest of the Homeschooling ABCs lessons at a nice savings – only $47 instead of $60 (you save over 20%).  And remember that you get over $250 worth of curriculum bonuses with that purchase, so it is a very good value indeed.

Here is the link to the special offer for August Spectacular participants:

http://www.homeschoolingabcs.com/septembercontinue.htm

This offer is time-sensitive and good through September 4th.  That’s this upcoming Friday!

If you would rather not purchase yet, but wait and see if your name has been drawn, that’s perfectly fine and understandable.  Remember, if you want to be included in the drawing, you need to:

  1. Post your comments about each lesson (all 5) on each lesson’s blog posts (scroll below)
  2. Exception, your 5th comment may be placed here or on your own blog, twitter or facebook status.
  3. Send me an email – terri@homeschoolingabcs.com – confirming that you have commented on all 5 lessons and answer this question… Are the Homeschooling ABCs lessons a good value for the price tag and would you recommend this to a friend?  Your answer will remain confidential.

That’s it!  I hope you win!  We’ll let you know on September 1st at 9:00pm EST.  See you then!

Homeschooling ABCs – Lesson D

August 24th, 2009

Good morning,

Well, it is still morning here and a simply gorgeous one here in Oregon.  Summer is nearly coming to an end.  Only one Monday left to go in our August Spectacular (after today, that is!).

Go ahead and post your comments on Lesson D here.  You certainly do not have to post anything today or ever.  But if you want to be included in the drawing to win the full course on September 1st, then we ask that you post at least 1 comment per lesson.  It only takes 2 minutes so why not do it now while you are thinking about it.  We’ll draw 25 winners on 9/1 plus we are giving away 10 runner up prizes as well.  The first 25 names that are drawn will receive the remaining lessons in the course (27 lessons in all).  The runner up prize winners will receive the next 2 lessons in the series.

So take a moment and post your thoughts about Lesson D.  I look forward to reading them.

And have a great week!

What do you think now?

August 20th, 2009

We are conducting a survey this week, asking our customers how they like our new website.  Well, we are certainly getting mixed reviews, although the majority of comments have been extremely positive.  However, there are certain themes that kept coming up that gave us the nudge to “redecorate,” so to speak, because we certainly want you all to feel comfortable in our living room online.  We can’t tell you how grateful we are for your feedback!

So here is the latest update to the website:

http://www.kqpublishing.org

What do you think?  Please post your comments.  And if you haven’t taken our survey yet, you can do so here.  You’ll receive a 20% discount to use on our website for answering the 9 or 10 questions that we posed there.  Here’s the link:

http://spreadsheets.google.com/viewform?hl=en&formkey=dEszclAxd19oYXBKRDlqQm9iaU9LcFE6MA

Here is a quick summary of the results so far…

  • 17% couldn’t tell that the new website was really us and 13% were not sure, so we changed the color scheme and added the old logo back in.  70% recognized us right off the bat.
  • 88% said that the new website made them want to stick around and explore further.  12% said that they wanted to click the “back” button right away.  We hope that the revised look has helped those 12% because we wouldn’t want to lose you!
  • Overwhelmingly the favorite feature on the new website is the navigation buttons and drop-down menus.  Other favorites were the article and product of the month buttons.
  • Only 5% were turned off by our newsletter sign-up form.  63% liked it and the remaining 32% had various things to say about it, usually something along the lines of “it is what it is.”
  • Best of all, 92% said that they were likely or very likely to recommend our website and resources to their friends.  Yay!  We are so humbled and thrilled with this response.

One of the main criticisms that we received about the original new website (that we have since revised in color scheme, header, photos and other cosmetic issues) is that it was too generic, cheap, even “bubble gummy”.  So, we’ve added more “old world” charm, product images, original logo and additional information to make the site more distinctive… more US.  Do you think we have achieved that goal?

Another complaint is that it took way too long for the catalog to load.  Well, the original file was 9MB so no wonder.  We’ve reduced the size of the file to 2.5MB so that will help the majority of visitors to open and read the catalog, which is hyperlinked by the way.

So, what do you think now?

Please comment here and tell us what you think (if you have already taken the survey).  We are dying to know if we have made a positive difference and addressed most of the issues that concerned you.

Thanks so much!

Now to revise the blog and twitter pages to coordinate.  We’ll get there…

Homeschooling ABCs – Lesson C

August 17th, 2009

Hi there,

I hope that you are having a great Monday!  This is the 3rd Monday in our August Spectacular.  There are still two more to go.  I am so pleased that you are enjoying these lessons.  I do realize that we have brand new homeschoolers and very experienced homeschoolers accepting these 5 free lessons and it can be a challenge to address everyone at their point of need and interest.  However, it does seem that we can all use the reminder to keep first things first.  Even me!

We look forward to your comments on Lesson C which you can post here.

So take a moment and post your thoughts.  I look forward to reading them.

And have a great week!

Homeschooling ABCs Lesson B

August 10th, 2009

Hi there,

Happy Monday!  Welcome back to the August Spectacular.  My two sons (Levi in front of the camera and Brady behind the camera) joined me to create a quick 46 second video to touch base with you.

Please remember that these lessons are completely free – there are no strings attached.  However, if you want to be included in the drawing on September 1st to win the full course, all 27 lessons, then we ask that you take a moment out of your week to post your thoughts on each lesson here on my blog.  There will be 25 winners for the full course and 10 runner up prizes.

Some people had trouble receiving the lesson last week, so I am giving you a little extra time (say 48 hours) to post about Lesson A on the blog post below (/blog/2009/08/homeschooling-abcs-lesson-a/).  You can post about this second lesson, Lesson B, right here.  Remember to get this done before next Monday at noon EST.  It only takes a minute to post and your comments are so appreciated!!

If you haven’t received your second lesson yet, then check your in-box.  You will receive it before 3:00pm EST.  Please add my email address – terri@homeschoolingabcs.com – to your inbox to keep it from disappearing into your spam or junk mail folders.

Have a great day and I will see you next week,

Terri

Homeschooling ABCs – Lesson A

August 3rd, 2009

I am so pleased that you have decided to join us for the month of August as we give away the first 5 lessons of the Homeschooling ABCs class.  We hope that you enjoy them.

(If you are reading this and wondering how you can get signed up for free lessons, I do apologize, but the sign-up window has closed.  Maybe we will do this again in the future, so stay posted by subscribing to our newsletter list.  You can do so on the KQ home page here – www.kqpublishing.org.)

If you would like to be included in our drawing on September 1st to win the rest of the course (all 27 lessons), then we ask that you simply post your thoughts each week after you read the lesson.  Please post your comment before 12 noon EST of the following Monday.  So, in other words, you may post here about Lesson A until Monday, August 10th at 12 noon EST.

You do not have to post if you do not want to participate in the drawing.  (By the way, if you want to see the whole list of lessons covered to help you decide if you want to participate or not, you can read the list of classes on Meredith Curtis’ blog here – http://www.takerootandwrite.com/2009/05/homeschooling-a.html.)

Now, about your first post… please comment on what you liked about the class and/or what nugget of information you can use and apply this upcoming school year.  This first lesson is especially geared toward brand new homeschooling parents who are just getting started, but even seasoned homeschoolers can usually find something that makes them sit up and say, “Hmmm… I think that I will try that this year and see how it goes.”

I look forward to reading your thoughts.

Have a great week!

Terri
